- Responsible for the supervision and training of substation electricians in the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, installation and/or modification of substation equipment.
- Responsible to present a positive image of themselves and the company.
- Arrange kick-off meetings.
- Prepare and accurately complete job start forms.
- Secure electrical permits.
- Review projects with foreman – discuss and coordinate detailed work scope, tooling, material, schedule, and phasing.
- Manage scheduling on large projects that include various outside vendor coordination.
- Regularly visit job sites to understand job progress and issues affecting work timelines.
- Coordinate design and construction of new substations.
- Manage upgrades of existing substations.
- Responsible for all substation inspections and all substation maintenance documents.
- Act as construction inspector, reviewing construction progress.
- Train employees in the use and operation of new substation equipment.
- Supervise monthly substation inspections and evaluate results.
- Test transformers, reclosers, circuit breakers and regulators that are believed to have failed and/or for routine maintenance purposes.
- Minimum five (5) years combined education, experience and working knowledge of high-voltage utility systems, construction, operations, and maintenance involving troubleshooting, testing and repair of substation equipment.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in electrical project management.
- Experience managing electrical substation projects.
- Experience with frequent travel to customer sites.
- Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
