Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess potential key suppliers for logistics services: air, ocean, road/rail, warehousing, and project cargo. Onboard appropriate providers for forwarding and project opportunities.
- Negotiate cost effective pricing and contracts with suppliers to ensure savings and optimal service.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to secure a reliable vendor network in alignment with products and markets.
- Establish acceptable payment terms with suppliers that match company objectives.
- Source and analyze rates for multiple transportation modes to maintain a comprehensive database for pricing. Collaborate with finance and operations departments for prompt, accurate cost information.
- Manage sourcing needs and logistics requirements for project cargo. Work closely with project teams for successful execution of special projects.
- Represent the company professionally at all levels, including presentations and networking events.
- Organizational, analytical, and project management skills are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Attend national and international conferences as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with vendors to raise service levels and control costs.
Qualifications:
- Degree in logistics, supply chain, or business is valuable.
- Experience in logistics/freight forwarding sourcing domestically and internationally.
- Familiarity with multiple modes of transportation: air, ocean, road/rail, warehousing, project cargo.
- Proven positive negotiation skills that result in cost savings and meet service expectations.
- Solid ability to work in cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Meticulous, responsible, adaptable, and positive working attitude.
- Result-oriented, self-starter, and able to work in high-pressure environments.
- A willingness to travel domestically or internationally as needed for networking events.
- Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Project logistics management experience is a plus.
