WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Manage & Maintain: Oversee underwriting eligibility and policy guidelines for multiple states, ensuring compliance and consistency.
- Collaborate & Document: Partner with Product Development and Portfolio Management teams to create comprehensive documentation and training materials.
- Build Quality Assurance: Establish underwriting quality and QA functions to ensure consistent application of underwriting guidelines.
- Review & Resolve: Manage exceptions to eligibility questions and ensure they align with company policies.
- Risk Management: Develop and maintain a “risk alert” and “large loss” review process in collaboration with key stakeholders, including Claims, Portfolio Managers, Territory Managers, and the C-Suite.
- Set Limits: Work with the Enterprise Risk Management team to establish and maintain acceptable TIV (Total Insured Value) limits.
- Research & Implement: Engage in the research, vetting, and implementation of new third-party data sources to enhance underwriting processes.
- Lead Projects: Provide leadership on cross-departmental projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Align with Goals: Understand and support business goals by building and managing product line and category objectives.
- Ensure Competitiveness: Monitor and ensure products meet specifications and remain competitive in the market.
- Gather Insights: Collect and analyze feedback from Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and agents to define and refine product requirements.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in the insurance industry.
- Experience: At least 5 years of property and casualty insurance experience, with a preference for Personal Lines or Property expertise, and 3 or more years of underwriting experience or advanced knowledge of underwriting concepts.
- Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to utilize tools efficiently for analysis and reporting.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Proven ability to achieve ambitious goals in an innovative and demanding work environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop strategies informed by research, data, and industry trends.
