Porter/Custodian

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Porter to join our team. As the Porter, you will need to work independently, have good time management skills and provide support to the Maintenance team. This position entails keeping assigned areas of office and/or production floor clean, including the washrooms.

This is a unionized position with a Monday – Friday 7:30a-4:15p schedule. Reliable transportation and the ability to work these hours are a requirement.

Duties

• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the property, including common areas, restrooms, and exterior spaces.
• Collect and dispose of trash and ensure all assigned areas are free from clutter and are safe.
• Maintain housekeeping for manufacturing lines and floor, including but not limited to, picking up debris and keeping manufacturing line surfaces wiped down.
• Dispose of plastic and cardboard that accumulates during the production day.
• Mop up spills during the day and sweep, mop and/or vacuum the manufacturing floor and offices daily.
• Empty outside trash can, sweep and maintain outside area free of trash and debris daily. Snow removal as needed.
• Clean windows.
• Perform monthly check on fire extinguishers, eye wash station, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proficiency in English reading and writing for effective communication.
• Must be detail oriented and motivated.
• Must be able to lift 40lbs.
• Must be able to read and understand MSDS sheets and other directions. Must be able to read, write and understand English (all documentation are in English)
• Ability to work independently.
• Previous experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
