Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Front Office Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a smooth flow of patient information. The Medical Front Office Receptionist will handle various administrative tasks, including greeting patients, managing appointments, and maintaining patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Interaction:
- Greet patients and visitors warmly and courteously.
- Answer phone calls promptly and assist callers with their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate department.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations.
- Collect patient information and ensure all records are up to date.
- Administrative Duties:
- Verify patient insurance information and handle pre-authorizations as needed.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring all required forms are completed and signed.
- Maintain and update patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Handle patient billing and payments, including processing co-pays and providing receipts.
- Assist with filing, faxing, and other clerical tasks as required.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and minimal wait times.
- Communicate any delays or changes in schedule to patients and staff promptly.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Office Maintenance:
- Keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Monitor and order office supplies as needed.
- Assist with basic office maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in office administration or related field is a plus.
- Previous experience as a receptionist or in a customer service role, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting.
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced work environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare procedures is preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance processes and billing practices is a plus.
