What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated SEL Specialist position at Orleans Central Supervisory Union?
Albany Community School is looking for an SEL specialist to join their team. Our SEL specialist works to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by assisting in the identification and remediation or management of behavior for individual students. They work closely with the principal and guidance counselor as an Educational Support Team as well as with teachers to promote a safe and healthy environment in the entire school community that is conducive to student learning. We are a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school.
The SEL Specialist helps the principal with the coordinator responsibilities for PBIS and works closely with our coach.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Communicate a clear vision to all stakeholders that all students will learn, with a particular focus on students who face social/emotional learning challenges.- Collaborate with all school personnel to promote a safe and healthy school environment- Triage behavior infractions then investigate, process with students, and communicate with teachers and parents OR refer case to the principal- Collaborate with Principal on decisions related to behavior infractions;- Enter and track behavior observations on a regular basis- Support implementation of classroom-level, social emotional aspects of MTSS (i.e. CICO, behavior planning, celebrations)- Assist teachers with challenging situations (i.e. simple FBA, BIP, classroom changes)- Partner with OCSU Social Emotional Coach as needed- Act as Designee for Hazing, Harassment, and Bullying (HHB) processThe Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting six K-8 elementary schools, the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program, and Lake Region Union High School.Albany Community School is a rural school with about 90 students enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade. We have a beautiful 50 acre campus that includes mountain biking trails with a pump track, a beaver pond for observations, and XC ski trails in the winter.
