Lake Region Union High School (Orleans, Vermont) is a part of the Orleans Central Supervisory Union and serves approximately 370 9th-12th grade students in the rural Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Lake Region is a member of the League of Innovative Schools and is recognized for student achievement and successful efforts in closing achievement gaps of its largely socio-economically disadvantaged population. Lake Regions next Assistant Principal should have a track record of strong instructional leadership that fosters school culture reflecting rigorous learning for all students, communicating effectively with all stakeholders, and a commitment to support collaborative staff teams.12 month Administrative PositionThe LRUHS assistant principal will: Support an environment which promotes professionalism, respect, trust, and acceptance. Possess an understanding of socio-economically challenged students and the skill to support those students and their families.
Foster a compassionate and caring school environment that places the interests of all students as highest priority. Coordinate an effective student discipline and attendance model. Support an effective comprehensive curriculum program model and promote educational change in support of improved student learning. Enthusiastically create a positive school climate.
Listen to students, staff and community. Build consensus, trust and respect with all stakeholders. Project a professional yet friendly and approachable demeanor with staff, students, and community. Promote student learning and assist in work aimed at improving student achievement.
Build connections between the school and community. Assist with supervision and evaluation of professional staff and support staff. Be available in the building and visible in the classroom, the lunchroom and on campus. Coordinate and oversee school safety and emergency matters.
Assist the school Principal by providing leadership directly connected to teaching and learning specifically in the coordination, implementation and improvement of the school's instructional program and assisting with other administrative functions in establishing an appropriate atmosphere for maximal student learning. Work with teachers in assessing instructional problem areas and finding appropriate solutions. Actively lead, support and participate in school events and activities. Enjoy interactions with high school students.
