Position Summary
Under the guidance of the Superintendent, the Deputy Superintendent plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the NOLA Public Schools. The Deputy Superintendent’s core responsibility is to strengthen the internal operations of the district by leading and facilitating high-level strategic initiatives that promote systems thinking, encourage cross-functional collaboration, and foster shared decision-making. This position is pivotal in creating coherence across departments and ensuring that teams work in unison toward common goals.
In close partnership with the Superintendent, the Deputy Superintendent will also play a key role in driving progress toward the annual performance objectives set by the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB). This includes monitoring implementation, aligning resources, and maintaining a results-driven focus to ensure accountability and sustained organizational improvement.
Salary Range: $150,000- $220,000

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Planning
- Serve as a principal advisor to the Superintendent, offering high-level counsel on organizational strategy, performance improvement, and policy development
- Assist in prioritizing both internal operations and external engagements to ensure the Superintendent’s time is aligned with the most mission-critical initiatives
- Drive the district’s strategic planning process, collaborating with key leaders to define long-term goals, develop actionable plans, and identify the resources necessary to achieve organizational objectives
- Play a central role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization, identifying emerging priorities and challenges, managing associated risks, and proactively adjusting strategies to ensure success
- Implement systems for progress monitoring and accountability to ensure achievement of strategic goals
- Build and strengthen leadership capacity across the organization, providing development opportunities, mentorship, and collaborative support to executive leaders
- Provide executive-level leadership and facilitation support, empowering Chiefs to manage citywide and districtwide functions effectively
- Offer ongoing coaching and performance feedback to Chiefs, supporting their growth and reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensure alignment of messaging across internal and external meetings, promoting clear and consistent communication of district priorities
- Represent the Superintendent as needed, ensuring continuity of leadership, decision-making, and strategic direction
- Oversee the successful coordination and execution of all Board-related functions, including strategic meeting planning and communication
- Coordinate high-impact projects and prepares briefings, reports, and communications to inform internal leadership and the Board
- Organize and facilitate Superintendent briefings, ensuring that Chiefs are prepared with evidence-based, outcomes-driven presentations
- Collaborate closely with Chiefs, senior leaders, and cross-functional teams to align efforts and drive progress on district goals
- Engage with school leaders, families, and community stakeholders to incorporate their input into decision-making processes and resolve issues impacting school performance
- Maintain collaborative relationships with state and federal agencies, ensuring alignment with policy developments and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Coordinate key projects, timelines, and deliverables to support high-quality execution across departments
- Implement a progress monitoring system to track milestone achievement, operational performance, and goal alignment; and
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the continuous improvement of NOLA Public Schools
- Master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred
- Minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience in K-12 education including central office or executive-level roles
- Charter school experience is strongly preferred
- Valid Louisiana teaching certification with School Superintendent add-on
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale organizational initiatives in complex educational environments
- Strong understanding of both instructional and operational functions within a school district
- Proven track record of promoting equity, driving systemic change, and achieving measurable results
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think strategically, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
