About Ormoni

Ormoni is an intelligent drug design company. Our aims are threefold :

1.    generate training-scale polypeptide drug activity data;

2.    train our foundation drug model, OPM, to design first-in-class and best-in-class therapies;

3.    develop these therapies at an unprecedented pace to help patients in need.

We integrate megascale sequence-activity data generation with gigascale evolutionary sequence-structure maps to train the Ormoni Polypeptide Model for comprehensive drug design. In doing so, Ormoni collapses the billion-dollar, decade-long drug development process into discrete, rapid computational cycles, enabling better therapies, with faster development, for more patients.

The Role

Ormoni is seeking a (Senior) Scientist – Biology to develop cell-based and in vivo assays for functional screening, hit identification, and lead optimization of therapeutic polypeptides. This individual will play a key role in establishing and advancing our biological research capabilities, collaborating closely with our chemistry and machine learning teams to generate high-quality training data for AI-driven drug discovery. The scientist will drive experimental design and execution, leveraging high-throughput approaches to accelerate our platform and lead programs.

This will be a key role on a small team at a seed-stage biotechnology company, with significant opportunities for impact and innovation. The successful candidate will have a record of using creative approaches to solve hard problems. We are open to a range of experience levels and excited about bringing in team members with expertise that reaches across scientific functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish cell biology and in vivo research capabilities at Ormoni.
  • Design, plan, and execute cell-based studies to evaluate the activity of candidate therapeutic polypeptides.
  • Conduct in vitro binding and enrichment for affinity enrichment mass spectrometry experiments.
  • Design and lead execution of in vivo studies to examine PK and ADME properties of polypeptides
  • Integrate biological data into AI / ML workflows to rapidly iterate libraries and candidate molecules.
  • Identify therapeutic opportunities, then plan and execute drug campaigns.

Qualifications

Required :

  • PhD in Biology or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Biological expertise in any combination of immunology, oncology, or GPCR signaling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work dynamically across therapeutic areas.
  • Expertise in cell culture including a range of cell lines, transfection and lentiviral transduction, and stable cell line development.
  • Strong background in developing cell-based assays, such as reporter cell systems, high-throughput phenotypic screens, or flow cytometry assays.
  • Preferred :

  • 2 years of industry experience in biotechnology or pharma.
  • Industry experience supporting hit discovery or lead optimization.
  • Experience with animal pharmacodynamics or disease models, particularly oncology, and experience working with both mice and rats.
  • Hands-on experience conducting rodent studies, including IV dosing, multiple routes of blood collection, and tissue harvesting.
  • Experience identifying and managing CROs to support animal studies.
  • Ormoni is looking for people who are excited about building from the ground up as part of a small and growing team. We are an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to creating a workplace free of harassment and discrimination. We do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, beliefs, age, family or parental status, or any other status.
