About the Position:
Join our team at Orndorf & Associates, a leading structural engineering firm licensed in 35 states. We're seeking a motivated Structural Designer to deliver value-driven solutions across diverse building projects while working directly with our Project Managers and Principal Engineer.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop structural designs, calculations, and construction documents for various building types.
- Create comprehensive construction drawings including plans, sections, and details.
- Perform structural analysis including Finite Element Modeling.
- Execute construction administration services (shop drawing review, RFI responses, field visits).
- Manage projects from concept through completion with PM/Principal supervision.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and condition assessments.
- Research and apply relevant building and structural codes.
Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of building structural design experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering.
- E.I.T. certification (preferred) with commitment to PE/SE licensure.
- Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of FEM software (RAM Structural Systems, RAM Elements, RAM Concept).
- Familiarity with building codes (IBC, ASCE 7) and design standards (AISC, ACI 318, TMS 402/602, NDS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently under senior supervision and collaborate effectively in teams.
- Self-motivated with strong research capabilities and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
