Job Summary: To help students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational and life plans. The counselor will guide, listen, and lend support to students who will need services beyond the scope of the regular classroom.Selected individual must have the following qualifications: Holds a Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with a Counselor Endorsement (K-12) or is a certified social workerMinimum experience as determined by the BoardKnowledge of computerized master schedule developmentBroad knowledge of theories of individual and group guidance techniques, and elementary school guidance program designKnowledge of state and federal testing procedures and requirementsStrong background in the use of technology Relates extremely well to studentsDemonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community groups and organizationsAble to work under pressure and deadlinesExcellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skillsMaintain confidentiality of staff and studentsApplicant must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screeningSalary: Contingent based on education and experience. 2024-2025 Certified Salary Schedule: https://orofinojsd171.schoolinsites.com/salaryschedulesBenefits: Employee medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage paid 100% by the district.
