What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Business Teacher position at Orono Public Schools?
- Implement best practice teaching and learning strategies into content area.
- Teach and lead students in learning and modeling of contemporary business principles from introductory to advanced levels.
- Serve as the advisor or co-advisor of a DECA club with a strong tradition of student success at high levels (an additional role covered under the Co-curricular stipend schedule).
- Establish individual learner goals that reflect the District’s mission and values.
- Work collaboratively with department members to support the academic, social and emotional growth of high school students.
- Collaborate with other teachers to design and coordinate assessments and utilize data to target student needs.
- Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional.
- Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators through all available means of technology.
- Establish and maintain high standards for character growth.
- Current and applicable Minnesota Teaching License required.
- Experience leading DECA or other student business activities preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to support student interest in and outside of the classroom.
- High level of content expertise required.
- Demonstrated ability to support critical thinking in meaningful discourse in the content area.
- Experience working with high school students preferred.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.
- Experience with curriculum and assessment design.
- Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
- Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.
