What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Paraeducator - Orono High School/Transition Program (Long term Substitute through May 2025) .5 FTE position at Orono Public Schools?
- Strong organizational skills.
- Working and collaborating with General Education and Special Education teachers.
- Knowledge of Google drive/spreadsheets and Schoolology to support students with learning.
- Support Transition aged students in community outings and Employment opportunities.
- Work with special education students in high school/Transition Special Education Program. Support in high school/Transition and general education setting.
- Support student academic needs, as well as social, emotional, and self-care needs under the supervision of Special Education teacher.
- Knowledge of general education content, modification of curriculum and re-teaching of learned concepts.
- This is a three and a half (3.5) hour per day position, January 15, 2025 through May 16, 2025
- Paraprofessionals must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which entails lifting, bending, and twisting in various settings.
- Be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to handle situations with a calm demeanor.
- A high level of compassion for students with developmental disabilities is essential.
- Flexibility and a cooperative nature are required.
