The Role
As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Systems Engineer to support our Global Infrastructure Team. As an Infrastructure Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our company's IT infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our systems while staying abreast of emerging technologies and best practices.
This position will be working in a hybrid schedule onsite in San Diego, CA - HQ.
The Position
- Design, plan, and implement complex IT systems, including servers, networks, storage solutions, virtualization environments, and cloud environments.
- Evaluate technology options and make recommendations based on scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy new systems and technologies according to project requirements.
- Manage and maintain the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, backup technologies, hyperconverged and hypervisor technologies, and cloud services.
- Monitor system performance and conduct proactive maintenance to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
- Implement security best practices and protocols to safeguard against cybersecurity threats and unauthorized access.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex IT issues, including system outages, performance degradation, and security incidents.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor junior IT staff in diagnosing and resolving technical problems.
- Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline IT operations, improve efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
- Utilize scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bicep, Terraform) to automate routine tasks and configuration management processes.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to data privacy, security, and disaster recovery.

The Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $95,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
