What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospital Rounding Nurse position at Ortho NorthEast?
The Hospital Rounding Nurse serves as an extender to the Ortho Northeast physicians at hospitals and the office to provide quality care to patients and serves as a liaison between patients, physicians, hospital personnel, office personnel, and other parties responsible for providing patient care.
Essential Functions:
- Makes rounds with physicians as needed, assesses wounds, enter orders, review and adjust discharge plans according to physician protocols.
- Informs physicians and advanced practitioners regarding patients in the Emergency Room. Communicates and interprets physician instructions to hospital staff, patients, therapists and other patient care personnel as needed.
- Receives and responds to telephone calls from patients, physicians, hospital staff, insurance companies, office staff, etc.
- Works to provide support and information to providers while, at the same time, maintaining an awareness of their schedules.

Schedule:
- Saturday & Sunday 12hr shifts (after initial training completed during the week)
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
- State of Indiana licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
Knowledge Required/Desired:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice.
- Current CPR/AED certificate required.
Experience:
- Hospital and/or medical office nursing experience required.
- Previous inpatient care desired.
- Orthopaedic nursing experience desired.
