Accountant

Ortho2, a leading provider of cloud-based, orthodontic practice management software is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, along with an understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and monthly financials. This position can be 100% remote.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with efficient completion of month-end closing activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensure in-house best practices are being followed
• Assist with monthly corporate financial statements and analysis, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, General Ledger entries, and Statement of Equity
• Perform monthly bank statement reconciliation
• Experience with publicly traded companies, compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley), and revenue recognition
• Experience with multi-state sales tax
• Support the annual financial audit by providing documentation for external auditors and collaborate with the internal team on preparing audited financial statements and notes
• Maintain best practices to optimize accounting functions and reduce risk of errors
  
  

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Accountant with 1-3 years’ experience
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong technical skills, helpful if you have experience transitioning between software packages. We will be switching from Sage 300 to Sage Intacct, in the very near future
• Quick learner and excels working in fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to meet deadlines, have excellent organization skills with professional follow-through
• Highly motivated, process oriented with strong communication skills with the ability to be a team player and collaborate well with others in the organization
