Position Overview:
The CRNA at OrthoArkansas plays a vital role in patient safety and surgical success by independently administering anesthesia and monitoring patient response during procedures. This advanced practice provider collaborates closely with surgeons and healthcare teams, ensuring seamless, patient-centered care from pre-operative evaluation through post-anesthesia recovery. The CRNA also contributes to protocol improvements and continuing education to stay aligned with current standards in anesthesia care.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Anesthesia Assessment:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients prior to surgery, reviewing medical history, allergies, and risk factors.
Identify necessary precautions or adjustments to anesthesia plans.
Anesthesia Administration:
Deliver general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC) using evidence-based practices.
Administer adjuvant drugs, analgesics, and sedatives tailored to procedure and patient needs.
Intraoperative Clinical Management:
Oversee airway management and mechanical ventilation.
Monitor patient vitals and anesthesia depth using invasive and noninvasive methods.
Manage cardiopulmonary resuscitation, oxygen therapy, and fluid/electrolyte balance as needed.
Procedural Support:
Insert and maintain peripheral IVs and arterial catheters.
Assist in managing blood loss, transfusion needs, and acid-base imbalances.
Post-Anesthesia Care:
Monitor patients during emergence from anesthesia and manage acute or chronic pain.
Ensure safe recovery and appropriate discharge instructions.
Continuing Education & Best Practices:
Maintain required certifications and licensure.
Stay informed on emerging anesthesia techniques, equipment, and regulatory standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other related duties as assigned to support patient safety and surgical operations.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program.
Minimum of 5 years of anesthesia-related experience or equivalent training.
Certifications & Licenses:
Active RN licensure in the state of Arkansas.
Current CRNA certification or recertification through the NBCRNA.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong clinical judgment and rapid decision-making under pressure.
Effective communication and collaboration skills with patients, surgeons, and staff.
High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and patient-focused care.
Software Skills:
Intermediate: 10-Key.
Basic: Accounting, Alphanumeric Data Entry, documentation systems related to anesthesia.
