Position Overview:
As a Financial Counselor at OrthoArkansas, you play a vital role in ensuring patients understand their financial responsibilities and options, promoting a positive experience from start to finish. This position involves reviewing surgical and non-surgical procedures to provide accurate financial estimates, negotiating payment arrangements, and educating patients about financial assistance options. By serving as a liaison between patients and providers, you will ensure payments are made in compliance with the OrthoArkansas Financial Policy while fostering a professional and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Estimation and Communication:
- Review all surgical and procedural cases for assigned physicians to calculate benefits and estimate patient responsibility.
- Communicate estimated portions to patients and coordinate prepayment arrangements.
- Collaborate with Surgery Centers to discuss patient benefits and prepayment details for upcoming surgeries.
2. Patient Account Management:
- Address patient inquiries and concerns regarding account balances and payments.
- Collect outstanding balances and negotiate payment arrangements that comply with financial policies.
- Document payment plans and financial agreements accurately in the system.
3. Financial Education and Assistance:
- Educate patients about payment options, financial policies, and available financial assistance programs.
- Serve as a resource for staff and patients to answer questions related to accounts and financial processes.
4. Collections and Reporting:
- Review delinquent accounts for potential placement with collection agencies.
- Communicate directly with collection agencies regarding payments made on collection accounts.
5. Compliance and Administrative Support:
- Ensure compliance with OrthoArkansas Financial Policies in all interactions and documentation.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the financial operations of the clinic.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 0 to 6 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of orthopedic procedures, diagnoses, and procedure codes is preferred.
- Ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and external stakeholders.
