Position Overview:
The Interpreter at OrthoArkansas plays an essential role in ensuring effective communication between patients, families, providers, and staff. This position is responsible for facilitating accurate real-time interpretation and written translation between English and another language—helping eliminate language barriers, enhance understanding, and improve the overall patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Interpretation & Translation:
- Provide real-time, accurate verbal interpretation between patients and clinical or administrative staff.
- Translate written documents, including forms, instructions, and patient communication, ensuring clarity while preserving the original meaning.
- Maintain cultural sensitivity and confidentiality at all times during interpretation or translation.

Patient Assistance & Scheduling Support:
- Help patients’ complete paperwork and understand medical forms, instructions, and clinic processes.
- Assist in calling patients regarding clinical questions, imaging appointments, office visits, and surgeries.
- Answer and respond to incoming patient calls via the company-issued cell phone.

Coordination & Documentation:
- Coordinate interpretation services across clinic locations and manage scheduling to meet patient and provider needs.
- Document patient interactions and language support provided in accordance with clinic policy.
- Provide detailed billing for interpreter services delivered to workers’ compensation patients.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support patient care, communication, and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 0 to 6 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mental alertness and adaptability to work routines in both office and field settings.

Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
- Required: Certification by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters.
- Preferred: Additional language certifications or continuing education in medical interpretation.

Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to interpret verbal conversations and translate written materials accurately and quickly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on cultural sensitivity.
