Position Overview:
The Pre-Op Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in preparing surgery patients by conducting health screenings, maintaining accurate medical records, and educating patients about their pre- and post-operative care. This role ensures seamless surgical scheduling and supports patient safety and confidence throughout their surgical journey.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Medical Record Management:
- Accurately complete and maintain medical records according to center policies.
- Enter required data into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system to ensure comprehensive documentation.
2. Health Screenings and Coordination:
- Conduct pre-op health history phone calls, gathering and verifying all relevant medical information.
- Consult with patients, family caregivers, and medical team members to coordinate care plans.
- Report any abnormal medical history to the physician for review and follow-up.
3. Patient Education and Support:
- Explain pre-operative and post-operative instructions clearly, ensuring patients understand their care requirements.
- Educate patients on surgical procedures and their recovery process, offering reassurance and guidance.
4. Follow-Up and Chart Audits:
- Perform post-operative follow-up calls to assess patient recovery and address any concerns.
- Conduct chart audits as time permits to ensure records are accurate and compliant.
5. Collaborative Support:
- Work closely with the surgical team to support efficient patient care and surgery scheduling.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensed to practice as an LPN in the state of Arkansas.
- 12 to 18 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Required: Active LPN License.
- Preferred: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to educate and coordinate effectively with patients and medical staff.
- Compassionate and patient-focused demeanor to create a supportive and reassuring environment.
- Proficient in data entry, word processing, and typing.
- Software Skills:
- Basic: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Word Processing/Typing.
