General Description of Position:
As a Pre-op/PACU Nurse, you play a crucial role in providing safe and therapeutic care to patients in the Pre-op, PACU, and Interventional Spine areas. Your responsibilities include assisting the nursing team in managing patient care, ensuring smooth case flow from admission to discharge, and maintaining a high standard of clinical excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Medical Records Management:
- Complete all medical records accurately according to center policy.
- Conduct chart audits accurately and as time permits.
Clinical Preparation and Organization:
- Prepare clinical areas for the next day and check emergency supplies and equipment.
- Restock clinical areas and identify supplies that need reordering.
Patient Care and Medication Administration:
- Administer medication in compliance with policies, procedures, and DEA regulations.
- Assess patients' post-op pain and administer medications as per physician orders.
- Assist with dressings and ensure proper post-operative care.
Patient Education and Coordination:
- Ensure consents are signed by patients, physicians, and nurses.
- Explain procedures and post-operative instructions to patients in a clear and understandable manner.
- Consult with patients, family caregivers, and team members to coordinate patient care.
Clinical Procedures and Assessments:
- Perform treatments or orders within the scope of practice.
- Administer IVs and IV medications and assess safety needs, patients' pain levels, and vital signs.
- Make pre-op and post-op follow-up calls to patients.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Equivalent to a four-year college degree.
- 12 to 18 months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- RN License, BLS/ACLS certification.
Preferred Certifications:
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room).
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
Software Skills Required:
- Basic proficiency in Alphanumeric Data Entry, Word Processing, and Typing.
