General Description of Position:

The Physical Therapy Aide supports the physical and occupational therapy team by assisting in daily operations and patient care. This unlicensed team member works under the direct supervision of licensed therapists, aiding in the administration of various modalities, helping patients with exercises, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of therapy equipment and supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clinic Maintenance:
  • Fold, organize, and distribute towels and pillowcases throughout the clinic.
  • Change pillowcases and towels, clean various surfaces, and wipe down therapy equipment with chemical cleaners.
  • Maintain and clean clinic equipment, such as the splint pan, BTE, paraffin, and hydrocollator.
  • Check and maintain temperatures of paraffin, splint pan, and hydrocollator.
  • Keep the splint area clean after each patient and ensure the treatment area is clean after each session and at the end of the day.
• Patient Interaction:
  • Greet patients, escort them from the lobby to therapy areas, and prepare them for therapy sessions.
  • Administer modalities under the supervision of therapists, including applying cold and heat packs and assisting with splint padding and exercise instruction.
• Administrative Tasks:
  • Assist with scheduling patient appointments.
  • Maintain inventory, order, and organize clinic supplies.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 0 to 6 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees of the organization.
• Skills:
  • Basic word processing and typing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and staff.
