Under general supervision and according to prescribed procedures, greets patients, prepares forms, collects, verifies and enters patient information into Centricity necessary for the timely and accurate processing of patient claims. Prepares paper work necessary for the patient visit. Answers incoming phone calls and directs calls, makes appointments, performs cashier duties as directed by the Practice Manager to include posting of charges, collection of co-payments/co-insurance and balances due. Follows process for release of medical information and FMLA/disability forms completion as requested.

We are currently searching for a PRN Patient Services Specialist/ Rooming Assistant to work with our OrthoCarolina South Park team. This position will work as needed (up to 30 hours per week).
The Patient Services Specialist/ Rooming Assistant greets patients, escorts patients from waiting area to and from exam rooms, clean and maintains exam room supplies throughout the shift to maintain patient flow, prepares forms, collects, verifies and enters patient information into EPIC necessary for the timely and accurate processing of patient claims.
Essential Functions:
- Transport patients from the waiting area to exam room
- Assists with patient preparation
- Prepares paperwork necessary for the patient visit.
- Assists with cleaning exam room and work area.
- Willingness to help at other sites if needed for staffing.
- Answers incoming phone calls and directs calls, makes appointments, performs Cashier duties as directed including posting of charges,
- Collection of co-payments/co-insurance and balances due.
- Follows the process for release of medical information and FMLA/disability forms completion as requested.
- Cross trains in other job functions to improve workflow.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Working knowledge of insurance
- Epic/EMR background a plus
- Medical terminology
Qualifications:
- High school graduate and/or associate or bachelor's degree
- Prefer minimum of one year experience in medical clinic setting.
