What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician position at OrthoGeorgia?
We are searching for a Central Sterile Technician for a full-time position, responsible for the processing of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment needed by the Surgery Center.
Sterile Processing is responsible for the processing, sterilization and quality control of all sterilized instruments used in the Surgery Center.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- One year experience in Central Sterile Supply/OR
Essential Duties:
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, care of instrument instruments, and stocking supplies needed for surgical cases.
- Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
- Takes responsibility for the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment
- Communicates, interacts and articipates in teamwork as a member of the OrthoGeorgia team with physicians, RNs, STs, and company representatives.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduated from ST training program, preferred but not mandatory
- High School or equivalency required
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Reads and writes Basic English
- Strong communication skills in both oral and written format
- Must have the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word to others accurately, loudly, and quickly.
- Knowledge of principles of sterilization process and universal precautions
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with other healthcare team members
- Ability to problem-solve and seek assistance from team members when necessary
- Ability to listen and respond to internal and external partners needs.
- Basic computer skills
