DME/OROTHOPEDIC CAST TECHNICIAN
About the Role:
The Orthopedic Technologist I plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by providing support in the management and treatment of patients with orthopedic conditions. Your attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will be critical to your success in this role. As a DME/Cast Tech, you will play a vital role in educating and providing patients with prescribed durable medical equipment. You will also be responsible for the application of splints and casts as prescribed by the physician. Ensuring clinic cleanliness, orderly storage of inventory and assisting with maintaining proper reorder levels will be part of your daily responsibilities. You will work daily with physicians and staff to ensure quality patient care and services are provided. We have 4 locations and some travel will be required between locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Ortho casting/bracing
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in orthopedics.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy related to orthopedic care.
- Familiarity with EMR systems
Responsibilities:
- Casting, splinting and fitting patients with medical equipment
- Manage assigned location inventory
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Responsible for maintaining quality standards and authorization requirements for DME
- Provide exceptional patient care and ensure patient comfort throughout procedures
- Work closely with physicians and clinic staff to understand medical policies and accurately determine medical necessity
- Work with clinical notes, diagnosis codes and medical terminology to interpret what is relevant to services performed in DME
