JOB SUMMARY

The medical assistant / float assists the providers in administering treatment to patients and performs some administrative duties in the orthopedic clinic.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant / Float for a busy orthopedic group. Must have 1 year of full-time clinical experience as a Medical Assistant. Must be knowledgeable in CPT Evaluation & Management (E&M) Codes as well as ICD-10 codes. Full time position with excellent benefits. See below for more details :

  • Carries out physician directives.
  • Will work for all providers as a full-time medical assistant.
  • Request Prior Authorizations (Workers Comp and Insurance Carriers).
  • Send / submit referrals and write and fax imaging orders.
  • Schedule Imaging orders for patients.
  • Schedule patients in need of injections and / or injections.
  • Rooms patients and documents patient care information using Phoenix EMR system.
  • Must have excellent documentation with all patient care interactions.
  • Obtains and documents health history, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses condition.
  • Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, monitors and documents treatment progress and patient responses.
  • Brings patient care issues to physician's attention.
  • Documents patient care information using Practice Management System and Phoenix EMR system.
  • Maintains / reviews patient records. Enters tests and exam results.
  • Must have experience obtaining prior authorizations and knowledge of processes.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding a PLUS.
  • Collect test results and lab tests results and make them available for the physician to review.
  • Triages and schedules patient exams as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Float between various provider teams as needed.

  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be willing to be cross-trained
  • Must have excellent grammar and spelling
  • Strong patient service and interpersonal skills as we are high on customer service
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent work ethics and ability to treat documents with confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and also take initiatives when the need arises.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Have experience with medical terminologies, diagnostic procedures
  • Strong communication and customer service skills A MUST
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • May work in our satellite clinic in Tulare as needed a few times a month
  • EDUCATION

  • Certificate of successful completion of Medical Assistant Program.
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum one year full-time clinical experience in a healthcare facility as a medical assistant required. Bilingual a plus and orthopedic experience a big plus (but not required)
  • Salary : $17 - $22
