JOB SUMMARY
The medical assistant / float assists the providers in administering treatment to patients and performs some administrative duties in the orthopedic clinic.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Seeking an experienced Medical Assistant / Float for a busy orthopedic group. Must have 1 year of full-time clinical experience as a Medical Assistant. Must be knowledgeable in CPT Evaluation & Management (E&M) Codes as well as ICD-10 codes. Full time position with excellent benefits. See below for more details :
- Carries out physician directives.
- Will work for all providers as a full-time medical assistant.
- Request Prior Authorizations (Workers Comp and Insurance Carriers).
- Send / submit referrals and write and fax imaging orders.
- Schedule Imaging orders for patients.
- Schedule patients in need of injections and / or injections.
- Rooms patients and documents patient care information using Phoenix EMR system.
- Must have excellent documentation with all patient care interactions.
- Obtains and documents health history, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses condition.
- Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, monitors and documents treatment progress and patient responses.
- Brings patient care issues to physician's attention.
- Documents patient care information using Practice Management System and Phoenix EMR system.
- Maintains / reviews patient records. Enters tests and exam results.
- Must have experience obtaining prior authorizations and knowledge of processes.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding a PLUS.
- Collect test results and lab tests results and make them available for the physician to review.
- Triages and schedules patient exams as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Float between various provider teams as needed.
