Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina is seeking a full-time Certified Athletic Trainer to provide direct and indirect care to patients within a care team in our physician practice. This Physician is a surgeon with a foot and ankle surgical specialty. The position is full-time with varying hours based on clinic and surgical schedule. There is the opportunity to work remotely on days where admin tasks are being completed. This clinical role operates out of our Raleigh, Knightdale, and Henderson offices.
Job responsibilities:
- Performing appropriate patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions. This includes completing a thorough HPI and review of past medical history, family history, social history, and medication reconciliation.
- Perform appropriate physical examination per patient history and chief complaint. This includes but is not limited to palpation of the affected area and unaffected area, range of motion testing, strength testing / manual muscle testing / dynamic muscle testing, myotome/dermatome testing, ligamentous stress testing, or functional testing.
- At the direction of the supervising physician, perform appropriate point of care testing and order appropriate diagnostic testing or follow-up care.
- Document all aspects of evaluation, testing appropriately within the Electronic Health Record.
- Collaborate with supervising physician to develop an appropriate plan of care for treatment/intervention
- Prepare for and assist the physician with minor surgical procedures, including preparation of patient treatment site
- Wound care including removing sutures/staples, dressing changes, etc.
- DME fitting and casting
- Administrative tasks including answering and returning patient phone calls, chart prep, disability paperwork etc.
- Promote patient/family understanding of the educational content and his/her involvement in the plan of care, and document in patient record.
- Follow all state and federal regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Other duties will be assigned by management as needed.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors/Masters degree in athletic training or equivalent from a CAATE accredited program required.
- BOC Certification
- NCBATE Licensure or eligible or licensure
