What are the responsibilities and job description for the Disability Coordinator position at Orthopaedic Specialty Group?
Under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Disability Coordinator / Appointment Scheduler facilitates the completion of all Disability, FMLA and MVA forms. The Disability Coordinator performs his/her duties in accordance with the office policies and procedures as provided and complies with all federal and state laws and regulations governing the privacy and security of patient's PHI (Private Health Information) under HIPAA. Patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Disability Coordination:
- Completes Disability Forms for patient
- Completes FMLA Forms for patient
- Completes MVA Forms for patient working with OSG Billing Representative
- Completes medical records requests for patients
- Collects and records all payments associated with processed paperwork
- Answers and completes all telephone inquiries related to Disability/FMLA
Telephone:
- Answers telephone in accordance with office protocol
- Utilizes EMR to answer patient questions (prescriptions, MRI/PT orders, gym/work notes, physician instructions, etc.) and brings open items to completion when appropriate
- Triages phone calls to the appropriate individuals or departments when necessary
- Takes messages and routes to the appropriate individual or department
- Handles patient complaints

Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Secondary training in business school or college preferred
- 2 years of experience in a medical office as a receptionist or appointment scheduler
- Competency with Microsoft 365 and EMR systems
