We are hiring for a career-track position for an experienced Veterinary Technician or Animal Rehabilitation Assistant who is passionate about biomechanics, movement, and improving animal function. This role starts in our office, supporting administrative tasks and animal handling, and evolves into a clinical, hands-on position providing direct care in veterinary clinics.

This is not a traditional vet tech job or administrative role — this is a unique opportunity to build a specialized career in veterinary orthotics and prosthetics. We will provide comprehensive training in casting, fitting, and modifying orthotics, prosthetics, and wheelchairs for animals. As you progress, you will become a trusted clinical practitioner representing OrthoPaws in veterinary clinics, working closely with veterinary teams and clients to deliver exceptional care.

Because this is a new program, we are looking for someone who is adaptable, eager to learn, deeply invested in animal health, and ready to fully commit to mastering this specialty. You will become an extension of our clinical expertise and reputation in a growing and exciting field.

What You’ll Do (Initial Phase):

• Support daily office operations, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
• Manage inbound communications (calls, texts, emails) with clients and veterinary partners.
• Assist with animal handling, ensuring patient comfort and safety during appointments.
• Maintain office inventory and equipment.
• Learn the foundational principles of veterinary orthotics and prosthetics.
• Prepare clinical materials and assist with data management (patient files, imaging, etc.).

What You’ll Grow Into (Clinical Training Pathway):

• Learn advanced casting techniques for custom orthotics and prosthetics.
• Perform fittings and adjustments for braces, prosthetics, and wheelchairs.
• Modify devices to optimize comfort and biomechanical alignment.
• Collect clinical data, photos, videos, and patient measurements.
• Become our in-clinic practitioner, providing mobile services directly within veterinary clinics (no home visits).
• Build relationships with veterinary teams, providing education and clinical partnership.
• Serve as a trusted clinical representative of OrthoPaws in the field.
• Contribute feedback to help grow and improve our new service model.

Ideal Candidate:

• Background as a Veterinary Technician, Animal Rehabilitation Assistant, or related animal care role.
• Understanding of biomechanics, physics of movement, and rehabilitation principles.
• Passion for learning and deep commitment to advancing in a specialized clinical role.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust with veterinary teams and clients.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to grow alongside an evolving program.
• Comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.
• Reliable transportation for field clinic visits (required).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general administrative tasks.

Preferred Experience:

• 1–2 years in veterinary practice or animal rehabilitation.
• Experience assisting with patient care, handling, or mobility solutions.
• Prior experience in administrative support roles is a plus.
• Interest in prosthetics, orthotics, or veterinary rehabilitation highly valued.

• Monday to Friday
• Initial in-person training at Palm Harbor, FL location, progressing to in-clinic mobile role

Compensation:

• $18.00 – $20.00 per hour (starting pay, with growth potential as clinical responsibilities increase)
