What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer position at Orthopedic One?
Provides athletic training services on an ongoing basis in an outpatient ambulatory rehabilitation practice and outreach. The individual in this position performs a wide variety of duties requiring specific knowledge of the clinic policy and procedures and meet the clinic’s professional, clinical, technical, communication and documentation requirements. Makes decisions based on established guidelines.
- RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develops strength training and / or conditioning programs for athletes / patients. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance.
- Delivers patient care in a manner consistent with NATABOC and State of Ohio AT and PT Board Practice acts while under the supervision of a physical therapist.
- Clinical Support :
- Maintains a clean and safe clinical environment
- Coordinates maintenance and upkeep of gym / therapy equipment and maintains related documentation for these tasks
- Assists director in the development and presentation of lectures, clinics and athletic screening programs
- Performs administrative functions as assigned by director
- Outreach :
- Makes referrals of orthopedic and neurological injury to appropriate providers / MD including scheduling patients for MSK care within Orthopedic ONE.
- Communicates with prospective patients about MSK services provided at Orthopedic ONE.

- Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.
- Actively participates in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.
- QUALIFICATIONS
Patient Care :
Assists physical therapists with exercise programs and patient treatments and performs rehabilitative modalities under physical therapist supervision.
Takes inventory of supplies and stocks supplies, equipment and linens. Alerts PT Director to purchasing and equipment repair needs
Provides emergency response for athletic injuries and performs first aid. Conducts orthopedic and neurological injury evaluation. Provides orthopedic and neurological injury management.
Teamwork :
Willingly provides coverage, volunteers assistance, and maintains workflows within department as needed without direct instruction / supervision.
Policies and Procedures
Knows and complies with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.
Education, Experience, Certification and Licensure Requirements :
Possesses bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization. Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification and hold current State Licensure. Must maintain and provide verification card for CPR certification including BLS / AED training.
