General Statement of Duties:
The Materials Management Director is responsible for the oversight and direction of the organization's supply chain operations. The Director is responsible for overseeing the procurement, safeguarding and proper recording of medical supplies, implants and inventory to support the daily operations of the organization. The role is responsible for ensuring the receipt and storage of supplies and materials are in compliance with corporate and governmental/HFAP guidelines.
The Director is responsible for identifying opportunities for enhanced efficiencies, improved performance, and reduced costs while overseeing the Purchasing, Materials Management, and Biomedical Engineering teams. The role will work in tandem with our GPO to optimize supply chain workflows and case spend to improve quality, value and reliability. The role also requires collaboration with physicians, clinical leadership and vendors to evaluate opportunities for new products and technology to continue to provide the highest quality care to our patients.
Essential Duties:
- Responsible for identifying, analyzing, and presenting opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies and workflow improvements to executive leadership and physicians for consideration.
- Responsible for the uninterrupted availability of supplies and services to all hospital and clinic locations. Ensure that current product inventory levels are appropriate for volume demands/forecasts.
- Manages centralized procurement of all supplies, equipment and services and oversees the safeguarding and accuracy of physical inventory. Works with team members to ensure inventory
- Ensure that procedures for receiving, storing and distributing materials to necessary departments are following corporate, governmental and ACHC accreditation guidelines.
- Responsible for all vendor/manufacturer relationships and local contract negotiations for supplies, equipment and purchased services and addressing and resolving any vendor-related issues.
- Work in tandem with GPO and third-party electronic data interchange to ensure that contracts and current pricing are received timely for maintenance in system and oversight of the department's timely working of cost/quantity exceptions.
- Establishes goals and objectives for department as well as budgets, policies, procedures and standards of performance. Assists with the development, implementation, and oversight of departmental plans, objectives, and directives. Maintains responsibility for the selection, training, and development of departmental personnel. Conducts annual performance evaluations and recommends increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Serves as advisor to all departments regarding supply, equipment, and service needs. Coordinates activities with other departments.
- Provides analytical, financial reports related to supply expense and usage. Conducts ad hoc analyses at the request of senior leadership to substantiate decisions in product and service selection.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent required, Master’s degree preferred
- 6-8 years of experience strongly preferred, 8-10 years preferred
