General Statement of Duties
The Accounts Receivable Representative reviews outstanding patient accounts in Allscripts queues by aging categories current through 150 days for assigned corporate entity(s), and/or payer(s) on daily basis. Reduces and maintains outstanding account balances. Maintains, or reduces, set benchmark percentages as set for each aging category. Communicates with billing company issues and/or concerns.
Essential Duties:
- Follow policies/procedures set for working billing queues, ECODE, EREG, Refund, IHTSC Authorizations, and Unidentified. Process unassigned payments not posted to patient accounts.
- Direct phone contact with insurance carriers and/or patients regarding outstanding balance due.
- Completion of mail inquiries from insurance carriers requesting additional information for payment review.
- Work with financial counselor to ensure collection of payments at time of service and/or for delinquent account balance due, or insurance updates.
- Maintain current knowledge of specific carrier assigned. Contractual agreements. (Medicare policies, updates, contractual adjustments, etc.). Along with current procedural terminology, healthcare common procedure coding and HIPPA guidelines.
- Notification to manager of “low” payments received from carriers.
- Perform other duties as directed by manager and/or corporation.
- File grievances/appeals on denied procedures (inclusive, modifiers, etc.)
- Work with billing company to resolve patient, and insurance account issues.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED required
- 2-4years of experience required
