Job Summary
This role is responsible for procurement, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment within the OrthoVirginia clinics, operatories, and other facilities. Accountabilities include managing inventory, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with healthcare and any other applicable regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Inventory Management - Maintains accurate records of supply transactions and inventory levels. Conducts regular audits to ensure stock availability and minimize waste.
- Procurement - Places orders for medical supplies and negotiates prices with vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Collaboration - Works closely with clinical staff to understand their supply needs and preferences.
- Contract Negotiation - Negotiates contracts with suppliers and vendors to secure the best terms and prices.
- Distribution - Manages the distribution of medical supplies to appropriate departments and locations within the facility.
- Issue Resolution - Address and resolve any issues or disruptions in the supply chain.
- Policy Development - Develop and implement policies and procedures for supply management.
- Data Analysis - Analyze usage trends and implement cost-saving measures.
Compliance Responsibilities
- Ensures all supply chain processes comply with healthcare and other appropriate regulations and standards.
Job Requirements
Experience/Education/Certifications
- 5 – 7 years experience in supply chain management with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field is strongly preferred, a relevant masters degree would be advantageous
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient negotiator with proven success in multi-vendor, complex healthcare environment
- Demonstrated critical, analytical, and innovative thinking skills
- Proficient in data analysis and inventory management software, experience with Workday is preferred
- Comfort and skill with highly detailed work, able to manage competing and complex time demands while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information
- Travel among OrthoVirginia work sites on a regular basis
- May be required to work irregular hours including evenings or weekends depending on urgency of employee matters or availability of key individuals
- Ability to move objects of up to 20 pounds
