Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Tutor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students of various ages and backgrounds. This role involves working with struggling readers in grades K-2, utilizing effective evidence based programs and instructional materials , while supporting students in achieving their academic goals. The Tutor will work closely with individuals or small groups, adapting instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the unique learning styles of each student.
- Provide individualized Science of Reading instruction and Orton-Gillingham.
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly to ensure comprehension and retention of material.
- Utilize learning technology and resources to enhance the educational experience.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging classroom environment that promotes student confidence and motivation.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to support student development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with administrative team regarding achievements and areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience in education or tutoring, particularly with children or adults in various educational settings.
- Knowledge of special education strategies, early childhood education practices, and preschool curriculum development is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with learning technology tools that enhance the tutoring experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students effectively.
- A patient demeanor with a genuine passion for educating others and helping them succeed academically.
- Ability to work flexible hours based on student availability.
- Available to attend a week a long virtual training for Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham
