What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scribe (Full-Time / Outpatient Orthopedics / Float) position at OS1 Orthopedic & Sports Injury Clinic?
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Scribe Duties:
Accurately document patient encounters in real-time during provider visits, ensuring detailed and precise charting of medical histories, physical exams, diagnoses, treatment plans, and other relevant clinical information.
Work closely with providers to streamline documentation, allowing them to focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks.
Ensure compliance with clinic policies and HIPAA regulations in all patient documentation.
Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy before and after patient visits, making any necessary updates to ensure the chart reflects the most current patient information.
Assist with preparing clinical notes, reports, and other documentation as requested by providers.
Clinical Float Support (Medical Assistant duties as needed):
Support orthopedic providers during patient exams by assisting with procedures, taking vital signs, preparing patients for treatment, and ensuring equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
Assist patients with mobility, help with the application of orthopedic devices, and provide patient education on treatment plans and aftercare.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring all supplies are stocked and ready for use.
Provide support for administrative tasks when needed, including patient check-in, scheduling, and coordinating patient flow within the clinic.
Front Desk Support (as needed):
Assist with patient intake, check-in/check-out procedures, and patient communications, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of patients through the clinic.
Handle phone calls, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and general office tasks.
Ensure that patient records are accurately updated and managed across both clinical and administrative systems.
Floating Between Locations:
Rotate between different clinic locations as needed to provide both clinical scribe and administrative support, ensuring continuity of care and efficient operations at each site.
Adapt to different workflows, team dynamics, and patient needs at each location, maintaining a high standard of care and customer service.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a medical scribe or in a clinical support role (ideally in orthopedics or musculoskeletal care) is highly desirable.
Strong typing and documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, etc.).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, providers, and staff.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple responsibilities at once.
Experience with front desk operations and patient scheduling is a plus.
Must be able to float between multiple clinic locations and adapt to varying workflows.
