Description
The Shelter Advocate is responsible providing advocacy, information, referrals and related services to victims of domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, and human sex trafficking. This is a part time position.

Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Education or related field preferred high school diploma or GED required
- Familiarity with family violence, sexual assault and/or human sex trafficking issues preferred
- Must be able to deal with potentially hostile and/or uncooperative individuals
- Must be able to handle stress
- Requires a high level of personal integrity and ethics
- Must maintain confidential information regarding shelter guests and crisis callers
- Must be able to lift, push, kneel, bend, reach overhead, and pull/carry up to 30 lbs.
- Must be CPR/First Aid/AED certified
- Must be certified to perform and score danger assessments or obtain certification within 90 days of hire
- Must be certified to perform and score an Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessment within 90 days of hire
- Must become a certified Victim of Crime Advocate within 120 days of hire
- Full time Shelter Advocates are responsible for ensuring all shifts are staffed if another employee is late or absent from work
- Requires a high level of problem solving skills
- Requires willingness and ability to learn new skills, including travel to conferences and training sessions
- Requires ability to use Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Requires good interpersonal communication and team work skills
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing
- Must have knowledge of Osage Language and Culture
- Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record may be required to drive GSA or Nation vehicles
