We currently seek a full-time Credible Messenger to join our Young Adults department. The Credible Messenger will provide mentorship, case management and employment assistance to BOGAP (Bronx Osborne Gun Accountability Prevention Program- ATI) participants to combat barriers to employment. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Alternative to Violence workshops, the Credible Messenger will also support participants and assist in civic engagements, community benefit projects and service learning with participants.
Salary Range: $26.37 - $27.03 per hour
Requirements
Essential Duties:
- Provide mentorship and case management services to participants
- Daily group facilitation with participants is required
- Support the development of community benefit and civic engagement projects
- Support the development of internship, employment and vocational opportunities
- Assist in goal planning and career development
- Utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Alternative to Violence workshops to support participants
- Establish and preserve relationships with other community service providers to produce referrals for participants
- Collaborate with staff on any recommendations or challenges that may arise to better serve participants
- Maintain up-to-date progress notes and data entry
- Complete outreach to prospective participants and those that may be delinquent from program after 48 hours
- Attend court when needed, in the absence of the Court liaison/Sr. Case Manager
- Attend assigned trainings and webinars
- In-person attendance and punctuality is required to collaborate with co-workers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least one year experience working for a non-profit organization, providing case management services to individuals
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, career exploration, case management, internships and job search strategies
Key Competencies:
- Must obtain the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Moral Recognition Therapy (MRT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) certifications within 60 days of hire
- Ability to accurately record data electronically
- Ability to communicate effectively, provide strong attention to detail, and time management skills
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
- Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
- Ability to travel locally
- Ability to communicate with all levels of an organization and build strong relationships
