What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Federal Proposal Writer position at OSC Edge?
As a Junior Federal Proposal Writer, the individual will review RFPs and all associated documentation. Write and review sections assigned by the proposal manager. In this role, the Proposal Writer will be involved in gathering and formatting information; writing drafts; obtaining approval, and managing all deadlines assigned by the proposal manager. The Proposal Writer also ensures compliance with applicable federal regulations, as well as RFPs’ terms and conditions. Familiarity with IT concepts will be helpful.
Responsibilities:
- Writes, revises and edits drafts including company introduction, program management/project management sections, past performances, candidate resumes and other sections as requested by the proposal manager
- Writes and edits proposal content using GovCon proposal best practices according to APMP, Shipley, and corporate guidelines
- Ensure assigned written sections are compliant with PWS/RFP requirements
- Works with the Proposal Manager to define concepts for written assignments
- Meets proposal deadline set by the proposal manager for information gathering, writing, review, and approval
- Reviews and edits sections written by highly technical IT subject matter experts for clarity, grammar and readability
- Provides “one voice” editing to provide consistent tone throughout the proposal volumes
- Receives feedback from color team reviews and edits written content accordingly
- Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone
- Obtains approvals from the proposal manager for all written material.
- Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating approach, coordination, and boilerplate, documenting need for change
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; assigned by the Proposal Director
- Attends strategy meetings
- Perform other tasks as required by the Proposal Manager/Director
Required Qualifications/Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Writing, or Communications (or other related field)
- 1 year of experience writing proposals for IT Services (network engineering, network architecture, cybersecurity, CSfC)
- 1 year of experience writing proposals for Federal agencies, specifically the Department of Defense
- Must be able to write without AI assistance
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
