Position Overview :
In this role, you'll be responsible for performing commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repairs on advanced protective relay systems, metering, remote control, data systems, and capacitor controls within generation, transmission, and distribution substations. This position supports retrofit projects, system upgrades, and equipment replacements related to electrical controls, SCADA, DCS, and power system protection.

Conduct functional and performance testing of electromechanical, numerical, and microprocessor-based protective relays and control devices.Install, commission, and maintain protective relaying equipment, DFR systems, SCADA, and distribution automation technologies.Execute tests on overcurrent / voltage, directional, distance, impedance, synchronization checks, loss of field, reverse power, and multifunction relays.Perform control circuit testing for relay panels, transformers, and circuit breaker replacements.Lead differential and distance relay testing procedures.Develop and refine standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance protocols for protective relays, RTUs, IEDs, and communication systems.Analyze technical documents and service requests to implement project-specific requirements.Clearly communicate technical findings to stakeholders, including management and clients.Travel to project sites for commissioning, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with IEEE, NETA, NEMA, and NEC standards.Generate detailed test reports and project summaries.Support training initiatives for technicians in protective relay and control systems.Additional Duties :
Provide leadership and technical guidance to field crews, ensuring safety protocols and project goals are met.Maintain accurate records of project time and activities.Contribute to the development of new test procedures and quality control documentation.Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED required.Technical / trade school certification with 10 years of hands-on experience in power system protection and controls, OREquivalent military training with proven power systems experience, ORAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology with relevant power system protection exposure.Certifications (Preferred but Not Required) :
AVO, NETA, NICET certificationsPhysical Requirements :
Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.Capability to work at elevated heights and near high-voltage equipment.Strong visual acuity, including color differentiation for wiring tasks.Work Environment :
Industrial settings, both indoor and outdoor, with exposure to extreme temperatures.Proximity to moving mechanical parts and energized high-voltage systems.Must be adaptable to varied field conditions, including overnight and multi-day assignments.Pre-Employment Requirements :
