General Description of Duties

Salary $73,174.40-$93,298.40 Annually (Depending on Qualifications and Experience)
Under direction the purpose of the position is to provide a comprehensive approach that includes land use planning, infrastructure development, and data-driven decision-making. This role involves a range of responsibilities from strategic planning and analysis to report writing and development review. You will ensure that transportation initiatives align with the County’s Comprehensive Plan and meet the evolving needs of our community. Objective is to execute the County’s program for its Comprehensive Plan in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.

An equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be considered.
An active certification with the American Institute of Certified Planners is considered comparable to one (1) year of experience.
Miscellaneous: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master’s Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, Environmental Management, or a related field.
AICP certification or PE license, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Experience with transportation planning, including land use, infrastructure planning, data analysis, and project management preferred.

- Obtains and analyzes data to support the Comprehensive Plan and related studies.
- Conducts thorough research and analyzes collected data to inform planning activities and decisions.
- Provides technical assessments of the impacts of land use on transportation planning.
- Evaluates how proposed land uses affect transportation systems and infrastructure.
- Reviews preliminary and final development plans for compliance with Comprehensive Plan and development regulations.
- Ensures that development projects adhere to transportation standards and guidelines.
- Coordinates the review of development applications across departments.
- Facilitates inter-departmental collaboration to ensure comprehensive evaluation and integration of transportation considerations.
- Supports senior staff in transportation planning activities and project management.
- Provides technical and analytical assistance to enhance project outcomes and strategic planning.
- Assists the general public, developers, and consultants with applying the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan to their properties and projects.
- Provides clear, actionable guidance on transportation planning requirements.
- Manages the distribution of demographic data to the general public. Ensure that relevant information is accessible and effectively communicated.
- Participates in the review and implementation of the Land Development Code. Contribute to updates and revisions that align with transportation planning goals.
- Prepares and present findings to the Board of County Commissioners, Planning Commission, and community groups.
- Provides technical assistance and respond to inquiries at public meetings and hearings.
- Acts as project coordinator on assigned review projects, fulfills all necessary job functions. May serve as a Team Leader on certain projects, overseeing team activities and ensuring project success.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or necessary, which are related to or logical in relation to the position.
- Adapts to evolving responsibilities and contributes to the overall goals of the department.
