Performs professional project administrative and oversight work, coordinating publishing, monitoring, response, and strategy for the County’s social media platforms. This position strategically manages the County’s social media presence by conceptualizing, writing, designing, publishing, curating, monitoring, and reporting on various platforms; provides advanced content creation, skilled social media management and oversight, marketing outreach in a deadline-driven environment, including during crisis communications events. This position is responsible for content creation, including digital video and photography recording and editing to highlight County activities. Work requires independent judgment and the ability to work alone as a member of a team.

Tact and diplomacy are essential as the employee will have considerable contact with County administration, Board of County Commissioners, Constitutional Offices, employees, vendors, and citizens.

- Coordinates the development of a monthly content calendar for social media channels that is consistentwiththeCounty’sstrategicgoals and the calendaring of the same in a content calendar (e.g., Sprout Social, HootSuite, Meta Scheduler, etc.).
- Coordinates, shoots, and edits video content for use on social media platforms and other forums.
- Updates and implements a unified social media strategy to be consistent with current social media/digital trends and projections.
- Monitors departmental social media accounts and ensures brand and voice consistency.
- Creates and interprets weekly and monthly reports on social media performance using monitoring platforms and offers recommendations on how the data may inform future decisions.
- Provides creative insight and implements tactics to increase public engagement via social and digital platforms.
- Leads social media planning, coordination, and coverage of community events and programs.
- Trains and monitors Communications staff and client departments, including Animals Services, Corrections, and Fire Services, in social media strategies that strengthen the County’s reputation and promote the County’s programs and services.
- Meets with collegiate department representatives and Communications staff to plan and work on social media projects and public education campaigns countywide.
- Supports other web and digital content strategies according to County brand and policy standards.
- Supports the Web Content Editor or others as assigned with continual content management of the County’s website, including assisting sites that may be hosted separately but are County affiliated.
- Assists with copywriting/editing of draft collateral materials as needed.
- Manages and/or supervises other social media or related positions and their assigned work.
- Performs duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical assignment to the position.
- Emergency Management Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, all County employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. County employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situations and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, or a closely related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in social media, marketing, web technology, digital media, or other social media-related field; and two years of experience managing or supervising a team of direct reports. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
Miscellaneous:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Must comply with Meta (Facebook and/or Instagram) individual requirements to run ads about social issues, elections, or politics within the Ad Center or other applicable social media platforms.

- Strong knowledge of Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
- Knowledge of strategic social media content creation, publishing, monitoring, and reporting.
- Knowledge of creating and curating graphics and short videos/live feeds for social channels.
- Knowledge of basic social media and digital writing and design principles, techniques, and skills, including the ability to design, layout, edit, and/or manipulate digital graphics and/or images.
- Knowledge of and ability to use software specific to the development and management of social media platforms.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent software to create social media and digital graphics.
- Knowledge of traditional art techniques, basic digital photography, video production, and use of traditional media.
- Knowledge of post-production techniques, such as the use of editing software for final preparation for various multimedia.
- Knowledge and ability to test multiple interfaces and/or browsers for optimal performance.
- Knowledge and ability to build social media campaigns and online ads.
