Summary:
Medical Assistants are key members of the health care delivery team responsible for flow of patients through the clinic. This role provides support to family practice provider team(s). Duties include, but are not limited to: EMR inbox management, calling patients with test results, responding to patient messages, registry work, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, administering injections, and assisting with minor procedures. Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Typical Schedule:
- Monday 7am - 4pm, Tuesday 10am - 7pm, Wednesday 7am - 4pm, Thursday OFF, and Friday 7am - 4pm
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- CMA, RMA or CCMA required.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum of one year of full-time employment in Family Practice, preferred.
- Prior experience with electronic medical records, preferred.
Responsibilities include:
- Completing pre-visit planning based on OMC policy and procedure.
- Taking and recording patient vital signs in the electronic health record system.
- Taking notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health record system.
- Learning about the medical process and using a team approach in patient supervision and documentation.
- Assisting the clinician with sterile and nonsterile procedures.
- Continuing outreach to patients with overdue preventative care needs.
- Assisting with medication prescription process.
- Placing future orders for lab and imaging.
- Keeping exam room stocked with adequate medical supplies.
- Preparing procedure and exam rooms for patient examinations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Critical thinking skills (foresight to pre planning of visits).
- Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and electronic medical records.
- Maintain the integrity of highly confidential business information.
- Display and promote high standards of ethical conduct and behaviors consistent with organizational standards
