Summary:
The Director of Information Technology (IT) is responsible for leading and managing the hospital’s technology infrastructure, data reporting functions, electronic health record (EHR) support, and facilities operations, including plant operations and environmental services. This role ensures the seamless integration of IT systems, data-driven decision-making, and the maintenance of a safe and efficient hospital environment. The Director collaborates with senior leadership, clinical teams, and operational staff to drive technological innovation, compliance, and facility efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Information Technology & EPIC Support:
- Oversee the hospital’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, cybersecurity, and telecommunication systems.
- Provide strategic direction for IT investments, ensuring alignment with hospital goals and industry best practices.
- Ensure seamless IT support and helpdesk operations for internal users.
- Lead the IT department, including staff management, training, and professional development.
- Oversee the Epic Support Team to ensure seamless EHR operations, end-user support, and effective collaboration with our Epic partner, OCHIN.
- Ensure IT security and compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, PCI compliance and other federal/state mandates.
- Lead system upgrades, implementations, and vendor relationships.
Data Reporting & Analytics:
- Direct the Data Reporting staff in collecting, analyzing, and presenting hospital performance metrics.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
Plant Operations & Environmental Services:
- Oversee the Plant Operations team to ensure hospital facilities are maintained, compliant, and operationally efficient.
- Oversee the Environmental Services team to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Leadership & Management:
- Lead and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop budgets, manage resources, and implement cost-saving strategies across departments.
- Serve as a liaison between IT, operations, clinical teams, and hospital leadership to align technology and facility services with the hospital’s mission.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in rural healthcare.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years IT leadership roles with a strong background in technology management, preferably in a hospital or rural healthcare setting.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and enterprise applications.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and lead strategic initiatives. Strong communication and project management skills.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of HIPAA, PCI Compliance, and other healthcare compliance standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in rural healthcare operations and facility management.
- IT certifications (e.g., CISSP, PMP)
- Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma principles for operational efficiency.
