Summary :
Hospital kitchen staff play a critical role in ensuring that patients, staff, and visitors receive nutritious, safe, and well-prepared meals in a healthcare environment. They are responsible for the preparation, cooking, and serving of food in compliance with health and safety standards. Kitchen staff work under the guidance of chefs or kitchen management and collaborate with healthcare professionals to meet dietary requirements for patients.
Previous experience in food service, healthcare, or nutrition-related roles is preferred
Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition
Understanding of special dietary needs and medical conditions affecting nutrition (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, food allergies)
Ability to follow directions and maintain patient confidentiality
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
Responsibilities Include :
Helping prep food items sold in both the café and market locations.
Maintaining inventory of food and other supplies used in patient care facilities.
Maintaining and cleaning the kitchen and prep spaces.
Recording of temperatures and maintaining food service equipment.
Assist with ordering food and equipment as needed and putting away deliveries.
Stocking departments with snacks / equipment cleaning such as fridge and coffee machines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Demonstrates OMC's behavioral standards and values in daily work.
Ability to understand and apply the principles of diet restrictions and food allergens.
Ability to apply concepts of basic math, knowledge in basic food service equipment operation, safe food handling and sanitation.
Working knowledge of portion sizes, ability to calculate figures and amounts such as recipe conversion, cash register, online ordering, weights and measures, discounts, proportions, and volume.
Effectively participate in the interdisciplinary care team.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family members, and co-workers.
Time management and organizational skills.
Ability to follow set rules and protocols.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Maintain confidentiality.
