Job Summary :
OMC, a rural hospital dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to underserved communities, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatry Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) to join our mental health team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide psychiatric care to patients with a variety of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and other psychiatric illnesses. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mental health care and will thrive in a rural healthcare environment, working closely with both patients and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations for patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults, in outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and trauma-related conditions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that include psychotherapy, medication management, and coordination with other healthcare providers.
- Provide psychotherapy, including individual and group therapy, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, and other modalities.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitor for side effects, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Collaborate closely with primary care providers, social workers, nurses, and other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Monitor patient progress through regular follow-up visits, adjusting treatment as necessary to improve outcomes.
- Provide crisis intervention and psychiatric stabilization, including management of patients in acute mental health distress or psychiatric emergencies.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Participate in the hospital’s on-call rotation to provide after-hours and weekend coverage for psychiatric emergencies.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Participate in community outreach programs focused on mental health awareness and wellness within the rural community.
