We are seeking an experienced self-motivated and results-driven Senior Business Development Associate to lead and manage our operations. This is an onsite position (non-remote). The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mass merchant retail environments and marketplace platforms. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of increasing both top and bottom lines by at least 30%. The Senior Business Development Associate will be responsible for presenting products to major retailers, securing in-store and online placement, and driving sales growth through effective product launches, listing optimization, and strong buyer relationships. You will also focus on building and managing relationships with retail accounts, driving sales, and expanding our presence in the retail market.
Prior experience in the retail sales industry, specifically working with buyers across retail, mass, and club channels, is required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive revenue growth.
- Oversee and manage all sales operations, ensuring smooth internal and external workflows.
- Managing and expanding our client base while ensuring the success and satisfaction of our buyers. Your main responsibilities will include: Account Management Strengthen existing business relationships. Establish, develop, and maintain long-term positive relationships with clients.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to expand market reach and enhance brand visibility.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase top and bottom-line revenue by at least 30%.
- Present products to mass merchants and major retailers, securing placement in online and in-store assortments.
- Gather feedback from customers and retailers to develop and propose new product ideas.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with potential clients and partners. Negotiate costs effectively to ensure profitability while remaining competitive.
- Utilize Channel Advisor and other marketplace platforms to optimize product listings and drive sales. Lead product launches, re-launches, and listing optimizations to maximize market impact.
- Analyze sales data and marketplace trends to inform strategic decisions.
- Ensure compliance with retailer requirements and marketplace standards.
- Utilize CRM tools to manage customer relationships effectively.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to potential clients.
- Monitor industry developments to inform strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a senior business development associate or equivalent senior sales role within the consumer goods industry.
- Strong understanding of mass merchant retail operations and buyer dynamics.
- Experience working with Channel Advisor and various marketplace platforms
- Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to close deals effectively. Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to increase top and bottom-line revenue
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with Vendorcentral, Channel Advisor, Quickbook, DSCO, Target Marketplace, and other marketplace platforms via 1P and 3P is required.
- Familiarity with major retailers, such as Costco, Target, Amazon, TJ Maxx, Marshall, HomeGoods, is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for building relationships with clients and team members.
- Strong customer service skills with excellent follow-through. Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Adobe illustrator, Quickbooks, and CRM tools. Exceptional time management and task prioritization skills. Self-motivated, results-oriented.
- Ability to analyze market trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
- 2-5 years of B2B sales experience is required.
