Hybrid position-must reside within 60 miles of OSF location.
Initial training onsite in Peoria.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Cancer Institute Intake Advocate leads the day-to-day efforts of welcoming new patients to OSF Cancer Institute. This may include all new referrals and inquiries for numerous services within the Cancer Institute. In addition, the Cancer Institute Intake Advocate serves as a resource to patients and departments to provide guidance for services that support the Oncology population. Performs essential functions to assist and identify patients for the Cancer Institute including intake and accessing patients for supportive services that meet the unique needs of Oncology patients. The Cancer Institute Intake Advocate is part of the OSF OnCall team that uses technology and outstanding customer service to bridge the needs of the patients we serve and create value. Understands the connection of patient experience with patient loyalty and integrates service excellence with each patient interaction. Provides exceptional customer service and collaborates with other departments to provide an exceptional patient experience. Assists, when needed, with referral services.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma/ GED
Experience: 2 years of work experience in a healthcare setting and/or patient care setting or CNA/MOA certification, demonstrating strong use of medical terminology skills.
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.; Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications and website navigation; Strong oral and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; experience in problem solving and conflict management and experience in compassionate patient/customer experience. Proven outstanding patient advocacy skills and ability to critically think to effectively guide the patient in real-time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate's degree in a healthcare, business, or related field
Experience: Experience in Oncology care
Prior experience with Electronic Health Record Platforms (Epic preferred). Completion of medical terminology course or equivalent.
