What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Clinical Lab Scientist - Blood Bank position at OSF HealthCare?
Expected pay for this position is $35.33 - $41.57/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists management in overseeing and directing work of technical personnel engaged in performing various routine and complex laboratory tests. In doing so, establishes work priorities, organizes and assigns work to Clinical Laboratory employees. Performs more complex and/or non-routine testing procedures and regularly checks validity and accuracy of test results obtained by laboratory personnel. Performs the duties of lab technical personnel on a regular basis. Independent judgment and professional education and certification are required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education, Certifications, and Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science is required.
- Successful completion of the ASCP or AMT Board of Certification CLS exam within the first year of employment is also required.
- Alternative bachelor’s degrees are acceptable with successful completion of ASCP or AMT MLS/MT/CLS/CG certification exam prior to employment.
- Maintains current certification according to guidelines established by appropriate certifying agency.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals.
- High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations.
Required experience:
- One plus years of relevant Laboratory experience.
