Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Transcriptionist listens to, transcribes/types and edits medical dictation according to departmental and Book of Style guidelines using the MModal transcription/dictation system. Participates in quality review activities. Works routinely in the Epic electronic medical record and utilizes Internet resources as technical resources for transcription. Observes rules of confidentiality to the highest degree.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or GED Completion of a medical transcription course lasting 6-12 months or equivalent experience (1-2 years) Experience: Typing skills of at least 60 wpm Transcription skills with productivity of at least 150 net lines per hour, as per transcription industry standard Other skills/knowledge: Detailed knowledge of medical terminology Experience using the Internet for research purposes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Experience transcribing all types of medical reports (H&Ps, consults, op reports, discharge summaries, etc.) Experience with the EMR and computerized systems Experience transcribing in an acute care facility Other skills/knowledge: Ability to type over 180 net lines per hour Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with other mission partners Familiarity with the Book of Style
