What are the responsibilities and job description for the Referral Testing and Process Optimization Specialist position at OSF HealthCare?
Expected pay for this position is $31.49 - $37.05/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintains, monitors and upgrades the reference lab interface and test codes with the main laboratory computer system including updating/adding test codes based on volume and resolving interface errors. Implements quality and computer programs that will improve departmental efficiency and trains staff. Conducts interface testing, monitors error work queues, troubleshoots and submits tickets for resolution. Implements quality, process and other software solutions to enhance the productivity of the department and the chemistry automated track system while standardizing processes throughout our OSF Ministry.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology is required
- Successful completion of the ASCP MT registration exam or NCA CLS certification exam within 1 year of employment is also required.
- Alternate bachelor’s degree acceptable with successful completion of ASCP MT registration exam or NCA CLS certification exam prior to employment.
Experience:
- One year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Microsoft suite of products, Epic Beaker, basic software and hardware experience
- Beaker Super User
Other skills/knowledge:
- Excellent telephone, written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to interface with all laboratory Mission Partners, physicians and vendors.
- Capable of working in teams with Mission Partners and vendors to support achievement of departmental strategic goals, as established.
- Experience or ability to successfully work with departmental Mission Partners and vendors to independently bring positive resolution to issues.
- Generally knowledge of chemistry, biology, mathematics, hematology.
- Serology specific clinical laboratory tests, laboratory testing and quality control methods along with analytical skills and troubleshooting experience.
- Excellent project planning and time management skills.
- Positive, professional attitude and demeanor.
- Prepared to undertake Mission Partner training in software and process change and coordinate activation of software upgrades and testing processes as needed.
- Experience with laboratory quality control and autoverification concepts, middleware and automated track systems.
- Ability to support laboratory operations in all activities.
